Substitute Teacher
Hiring Process
Thank you for
your interest in becoming a substitute teacher with Roanoke Rapids Graded
School District (RRGSD). Substitute
teachers play an important role in the everyday operation of our school
district. Substitutes are considered employees-at-will and
serve on an as-needed basis.
In order to be
considered for employment as a substitute teacher, an individual must be at
least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or its equivalency (GED) and
must be approved by the RRGSD Board of Education.
The following information
will help guide you through the process:
·
RRGSD
requires that all applicants for all positions complete the NC Department of
Public Instruction (NCDPI) online application
. Your application will be submitted
within 24 hours. To make sure that your application has been received,
you may contact Gwen Jones by calling 252-519-7100 or emailing jonesg.co@rrgsd.org .
·
Your
application will be reviewed, references called, and a complete background
check will be completed. If acceptable,
your application will be submitted to the Board of Education for approval at
its next regular meeting.
·
You
will be contacted by the Human Resources Department after your employment is
approved by the Board of Education. At
that time, you will be instructed to complete the New Employment Forms located
on our website. You will need to bring
the completed forms to the Human Resources Department when you attend our
mandatory orientation which is required for all new substitute teachers. Orientations are scheduled several times
throughout the year and you will be notified of the day/time of our next
scheduled meeting.
Please do not hesitate
to contact us if you have additional questions about substitute teaching in
RRGSD. We hope to hear from you!
