The RRGSD middle and high school shooting teams competed at Rose Hill Farm this weekend in Nashville. The middle school team earned 3rd place in Archery, Shotgun, Orienteering, and 3rd place overall in the middle school division. The high school team earned 1st place in Archery in the high school division. 22 middle school students and 13 high school students represented RRGSD very well.#kidsareourcustomers
Parents/Caregivers: Have you heard your child talk about the "Momo Challenge"? Media posts across the county are connecting the challenge with children exhibiting self-harm. The “player” (potentially your child) is alerted to messages requests self injurious behaviors to be captured and submitted. We are gravely concerned by this and are seeking your help through awareness and support. Please closely monitor social media exposure especially to the Momo Challenge. Pay close attention to any warning signs of self-harm. Please Share: RR Early College High School will hold information sessions regarding the 2019-2020 year for families of current 8th grade students (rising 9th grade students) who are interested in the Early College as an avenue of learning for their children. On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, 8th grade students will tour RRECHS and listen to RREC Scholars share their first year experiences in this learning environment. On November 29, 2018, a panel of RRECHS Scholars will be at Chaloner Middle School for its Parent Night from 5:00 -7:00. Our scholars will present all the great things going on at the Early College and applications will be given out. On December 6, 2018, a tour and a question/answer session will be held at RRECHS from 6:00-7:00. The Scholars panel will be presenting and parents of Early College Scholars will be available to share their first year Early College family experiences. Applications will be given out. Chaloner Middle School has adopted South Brunswick Middle School in Southport (near Wilmington) and will be collecting items to help the students there who lost everything in Hurricane Florence. This program is entirely supported by donations and provides snacks to students in need. If you or your organization would like to donate, please contact Chaloner. Parents: Students going into sixth grade will all take Math 6 this year. Students going into seventh grade will all take Math 7 this year. Eighth grade parents received a letter indicating their student would be placed into Math 1 this year if their student scored a Level 5 on the Math 7 EOG test. All other eighth grade students will take Math 8 this year. Lastly, eighth grade parents who wish to request a different math placement need to fill out the administrative request form and turn it in at Chaloner or the Central Office by Friday, August 17. [ALERT] Beginning Feb 26th, RRGSD will require all parents/guardians to present a photo ID upon entering campus. This will provide another level of security to protect our students and staff. #KidsAreOurCustomers
Thanks once again to our school staff and local law enforcement for protecting our schools. Staff discovered potential social media threats in neighboring counties overnight (2/20) that urged us to use extra caution today. While there were no direct threats to RRGSD, it is always our first priority to take every precaution necessary to provide a safe learning environment for our students. #KidsAreOurCustomers
Parents: Please be aware we have cases of flu, strep throat, and stomach virus in our community. We are taking every effort to see that your child is healthy while at school. We are wiping down desks throughout the day and doing extra cleaning after hours. We ask if your child has any of these symptoms, please keep him or her home until all symptoms are gone for 24 hours. If your child has a fever, please keep them home until the fever is gone for 24 hours without fever lowering medication. If you have any concerns over your child's health, please contact their medical provider. It's not too late to get a flu shot.
