Parents and Students who are RRECHS Applicants for School Year 2019-2020: We are currently gathering information on all of our Early College applicants for School Year 2019-2020. During the first few weeks of February, all applicants and their parents/guardians will receive a letter that details our review process and requests each applicant and his/her parents/guardians to contact Mrs. Janice Hubble, RRECHS Administrative Assistant, to set up an interview time with our RRECHS Review Team. Rotating sessions will be held on the following: (1) How You Can Help Your Child Achieve in an Early College Environment. (2) A Look at Early Colleges in North Carolina. (3) Student sessions - Students share their college work with you. (4) Visitation sessions - roam and discuss courses with high school teachers.
Roanoke Rapids Early College scholars are busy working on various college classes, such as ENG 111, MUS 110, PSYC 150, HIS 131, CIS 110, SOC 210, ART 111, HIS 132, BIO 111, COM 231, and HEA 110. If you are an 8th grade student who wants the opportunity to take college classes next year by joining the Roanoke Rapids Early College, be sure to submit your application by tomorrow, January 11!

Please Share: RR Early College High School will hold information sessions regarding the 2019-2020 year for families of current 8th grade students (rising 9th grade students) who are interested in the Early College as an avenue of learning for their children. On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, 8th grade students will tour RRECHS and listen to RREC Scholars share their first year experiences in this learning environment. On November 29, 2018, a panel of RRECHS Scholars will be at Chaloner Middle School for its Parent Night from 5:00 -7:00. Our scholars will present all the great things going on at the Early College and applications will be given out. On December 6, 2018, a tour and a question/answer session will be held at RRECHS from 6:00-7:00. The Scholars panel will be presenting and parents of Early College Scholars will be available to share their first year Early College family experiences. Applications will be given out. January 11, 2019, is the date that RRECHS applications for School Year 2019-2020 are due back to CMS office, RRECHS office, or the Central Service Office. Come join the RRECHS Family Experience!

Today we’re celebrating the success of one of our own. Roanoke Rapids Early College High School History instructor Ryan Stowinsky is in the process of releasing another book in a few weeks. The New Jersey native came to RRGSD four years ago. His latest book is called, Abandoned or Forgotten: Overlooked corners of South Jersey. Parents, RRECHS will hold a Scholars-led Parent Night this Thursday, October 18, 6:00-7:30 at the Early College Armory. Please come join us as our Scholars will lead you through their classrooms and discuss with you their assignments and creations. Mrs. Lassiter, our counselor, will hold informational sessions - 6:30 and 7:00- in the HCC Classroom 105 about our students' HCC pathways. Reminders: Here are just a few upcoming reminders for Roanoke Rapids Early College High School. 1. Our October experiential learning trips will be Thursday, October 11, 2018, to Historic Halifax and Friday, October 26, to Halifax Community College for College and Career Day and a private tour of the courses and pathways that HCC has to offer. 2. Next Friday, October 12, 2018, will be a regular day of school (This was originally a teacher workday). This will be a makeup day for one of the days we missed due to the Hurricane. 3. Please join us on Thursday, October 18, 6:00-7:30, for our Scholars-led Parent night. Our Scholars will lead you through their classrooms and discuss their learning with you. Also, Mrs Angie Lassiter, guidance counselor, will hold an informational session with Q/A on the pathways for our Early College Scholars. Thank you for your continued support. Parents: RRGSD Trustees adopted a tentative plan tonight to make up the two days missed last week due to Hurricane Florence. Board members agreed to forgive one day and make up the other day on Oct 12th for Roanoke Rapids Early College High School and Oct 22nd for all other students. #KidsAreOurCustomers

Parents: As a part of the learning experience for Early College Scholars, students travel for experiential learning to colleges, museums, and local history sites. Students are to create a product for each experiential trip to share their learning. These assigned creations vary with each experiential trip. Look where our students have been and are scheduled to go in the upcoming days! August 10 - ECU/Pitt Community College August 31 - Medoc Mountain September 7 - Chowan University September 18 - Sylvan Heights October 11 - Historic Halifax October 26 - HCC College Day and tour of HCC career clusters Ask your Scholars about these experiences and the creation designs that they have made. Also, come out on Thursday, September 13, 6:00-7:30, for our Scholar-Led Parent Conference night and see their work! The Roanoke Rapids Early College High School will hold its first Family Orientation night on Monday, August 6, 2018, 6:00-7:30 at the Early College.
