RRHS Administrators Deliver Signs to Every Senior’s Home

Roanoke Rapid High School Administrators loaded up in a bus Tuesday morning to deliver custom made yard signs to every graduating senior.

“This year is like no other.   Our students have been incredibly resilient.  They adapted to online learning within days, took missing important events in stride, and many of them even stepped up at home to care for siblings during the current COVID-19 pandemic and still managed to keep up with their assigned school work.  We are proud of each one of them,” said Jeff White, Principal.

“This is just a small gesture to show our seniors and their parents how much we care.” White added.

Many of the 230 students came out to greet administrators, take a quick photo with their sign, and to thank them.

“I just want to thank Roanoke Rapids High School for allowing us to graduate as a class together.  I know its not ideal, but at least my parents can watch online and I’ll be able to join them afterwards.  I appreciate everything the school has done to make the reminder of my year special,” said Makala Chambers, RRHS senior.

It will likely take several days to deliver all of the signs.  The non-profit Project Graduation has also organized a parade through town this Sunday as another way to honor this year’s graduates.
