Our first “Staff Spotlight” is on this dynamic duo: Mrs. Gowen and Mrs. Dickens. This team of teachers has been working together for 17 years. Mrs. Gowen holds a bachelor’s degree in Child Development with a Pre-K and K-6 teaching license. Mrs. Dickens has an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
Mrs. Gowen states that Mrs. Dickens is a dependable teaching partner who is humorous and can read her mind. Mrs. Dickens shared that Mrs. Gowen is fun to be around, excellent at her job, and loving to all.
When asked what they like most about working at Clara Hearne, they both stated the comradery amongst staff members, the small school setting, and getting to know families and students more.
In looking at the future, Mrs. Gowen wants their students to remember her for her kindness, love, sense of humor, and the ability to make learning fun. Mrs. Dickens wants their students to remember her for being silly, loving, and caring.
Mrs. Gowen’s favorite thing to do with their students is read stories, play in centers, listen to all they have to tell, and observe as they grow, learn, and share new ideas. Mrs. Dickens’ favorite thing to do with their students is to give hugs, show love, and listen to their many, many stories.
If you are to observe this duo in the classroom setting, it is evident that they collaborate in planning to best meet the needs of each of their students.
