Welcome Back

Dear Belmont School Parents, Students, and Community

I am honored to introduce myself as the new assistant principal of Belmont Elementary.  I am excited to join this amazing school family.  I hope everyone is enjoying the remainder of your summer vacation to rest, relax, and recharge for a great 2021-22 school year ahead.

Many of you may know me already as I have been in the RRGSD for 19 years as a kindergarten and 4th grade teacher at Manning, elementary intervention and instructional coach, and the last two years as the assistant principal at Chaloner Middle School.  Additionally, I had the pleasure of coordinating Read to Achieve Summer Camp for several years where I was blessed to work with many of the students and families from both elementary schools.

As a parent of two teenagers and students of the RRECHS, Brooke 17 and Bryce 14, many of you have seen me coaching, volunteering, and or simply supporting many Roanoke Valley organizations and activities.  I am a HUGE softball, baseball, and football fan who can be heard encouraging and cheering hard for all of the players blocks away.

I was born and raised in the Roanoke Valley and truly love and believe in the power of building a positive tomorrow through strong relationships, by being actively involved in our schools and youth organizations.  RRGSD is a small neighborhood, city school system where we all support and grow together to give each student the tools, mindset, and opportunities needed to experience success.

I am excited about the year ahead and the opportunity to reconnect with my elementary roots.  I love seeing the fire, passion, and love of education and learning as these young students are led to grow as a whole child.  The sky's the limit and I can’t wait to see these Belmont Bees take off and fly.

I can’t wait to meet everyone at Open House on Thursday, August 19th from 4-6pm.  See you then!

Sincerely,

Jen Ott

Assistant Principal
