RRGSD Honored

The Northeastern NC Career Pathways Partnership presented RRGSD with two awards today for its local implementation of certified career pathways in health sciences and advanced manufacturing. The programs at Roanoke Rapids High School prepare students for high demand industries in this part of the state.   The awards were given Thursday afternoon during the Business Advisory Council Meeting.

Superintendent Dain Butler also ask local business leaders to support a vocational center across from Roanoke Rapids High School to offer additional hands on programs like Welding, HVAC, Masonry, Electrical Trades, and Plumbing.

The district currently serves more than 500 students at RRHS and over 400 at Chaloner Middle School in various CTE programs like carpentry, marketing & business, EMT, and public safety.

"Our goal is to meet the growing demand in our community for these careers and provide real-world experiences for our students that will translate into a job right out of high school with industry certifications or make a student more qualified on his or her college application," Butler told the group.

"We believe this will be a game-changer not only for our students, but our community. We just need funding to make it happen."
