The City of Roanoke Rapids installed a new historic marker in front of Roanoke Rapids High School Friday morning. The marker was donated to the school from the RRHS Alumni & Friends Association as part of the 100th Anniversary celebration of the high school's opening September 16, 1921.
A centennial celebration is being planned for the weekend of September 24-25.
RRGSD Superintendent Dr. Dain Butler thanked the Alumni Association for the donation and called today's sign dedication, "a proud moment for our school district and city."
