SUBSTITUTE TEACHER INFORMATION

Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute teacher with the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District (RRGSD). Substitute teachers play an essential role in the everyday operation of our school district. Substitutes are considered employees-at-will and serve on an as-needed basis. As of May 15, 2012, in order to be considered for employment as a substitute teacher, an individual must meet these minimum standards:

  • Hold or be eligible to hold a valid teaching license or be a former teacher assistant in good standing with Roanoke Rapids Graded Schools; or

  • Completion of at least 24 semester hours of college credit and completion of the Effective Teacher Training course offered by the North Carolina Community College System.

The Roanoke Rapids Graded School District requires that all applicants for all positions complete the NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) online application. Once an applicant submits the substitute teacher application, he/she should contact Tracy Kidd at kiddt.co@rrgsd.org so she can retrieve the application from the online database.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have additional questions about substitute teaching in the RRGSD. We hope to hear from you!
