Angela Mallory and Larry Catalano

RRGSD Trustees approved personnel changes at the June 27th meeting. Chaloner Middle School Principal Angela Mallory was named Director of Alternative Learning at Akers Center for Educational Success (ACES). Mallory is a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School, North Carolina State University, and Cambridge College.  She has served as Principal at Chaloner Middle School since 2019. 

Mallory stated, “I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to lead our district’s alternative program. I am looking forward to building relationships with the students, their families and the staff in order to foster an environment of personal responsibility and support where our students learn the skills and tools necessary for success.”

Larry Catalano will take on the role of Principal at Chaloner Middle School. Catalano has served in various capacities, but most recently was the Interim Principal at CMS. Catalano received his MSA in School Administration from East Carolina University and has many years of experience as a school administrator. 

“I am so excited to be the principal of Chaloner Middle School! My immense happiness and enthusiasm for this new role is exhilarating. I embrace the opportunity to make a positive impact on student's lives and am grateful for the honor of leading this school into a bright and successful future,” said Catalano. 

Superintendent Julie Thompson added, “I am proud of these two veteran educators and the leadership they have provided to our district. I look forward to their continued success.” 

Mallory and Catalano began their new roles on July 1st.
