Thompson, Wray, and students on bus

NC House Representative Michael Wray made an early morning visit to Roanoke Rapids Graded School District on Monday, September 18, 2023. Wray joined Superintendent Julie Thompson, bus driver Cathy Duhadaway, bus monitor Megan Cobb, and Public Information Officer Mandy Clark on bus routes picking students up for Chaloner Middle School, Belmont Elementary School, and Roanoke Rapids High School.

When the bus arrived at Belmont Elementary a little early, it gave Wray and Thompson a chance to talk to the students for a few minutes. Thompson was able to tell the students a little about what Rep. Wray does, stating, “Rep. Wray works in Raleigh to help set a budget, making it possible for the school district to hire teachers and pay for the busses.” Wray left the students with some encouraging words, telling them, “Get a good education and work hard because you are our future generation.”
