reentry update

Gov. Roy Cooper announced today that school districts will be given the option to reopen their elementary schools on Plan A as early as October 5.   While the Governor’s order lifts some mandates placed on public schools it still requires face coverings, social distancing, and symptom screening for all students and staff.  Cooper added that students in grades 6-12 will continue to operate under either Plan B or Plan C.  The district will be conducting a parent/student and staff survey in the next few days to further determine how many of our Pre-K-5th grade students and staff would want to return to Plan A under the new state restrictions.  Once that data is compiled and reviewed, the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District Board of Education will meet to discuss our next steps.
