Roanoke Rapids Graded School District Board of Trustees Name Troy Cribb to Fill Vacant Board Seat
At its board work session on Tuesday, September 8th, the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District (RRGSD) Board of Trustees selected Troy Cribb to fill a vacant seat on the Board. Cribb, a Roanoke Rapids native and graduate of RRGSD, fills the seat of former chairman Dr. Michael Williams who announced his resignation in July. Cribb will take his oath of office at the September 15th, 2026, Board of Trustees meeting and will serve the remainder of Williams’ term which ends in 2027.
Three applications were received regarding the vacancy from Steven Ellis, Travis Godsey, and Cribb, who were all interviewed on Tuesday. After deliberation and discussion, board members held a written ballot vote that resulted in Cribb receiving the required five votes while Ellis received the other three votes.
Cribb stated, “I am truly honored and humbled to have been selected by the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District Board of Trustees to fill the vacant seat. Having attended Roanoke Rapids Graded schools from elementary through high school and later watching both of my sons attend, our schools have always held a special place in my life. I am grateful for the Board’s confidence in me and the opportunity to serve, and I look forward to working together to support our students, staff, and families while giving back to the community that has meant so much to me.”
According to Board Chairman Ed Liverman, Cribb’s leadership and deep commitment to the community stood out among the three exceptionally strong applicants during the selection process. “Troy will be a great addition to our board as he brings a strong ethical foundation and will provide invaluable perspective to the board as we continue to support our students, staff, and schools,” stated Liverman.
The RRGSD Board of Trustees will hold its next regularly scheduled board meeting on Tuesday, September 15th at 6:00 PM in the Board Room at RRGSD Central Services.
