2022 Summer Immersion Experience
The Gregory B. Davis Foundation (GBDF) is partnering with the RRGSD Career and Technical Education Department (CTE) by providing three (3) separate Summer STEM Immersion Experiences and opportunities for students interested in STEM and health-related sciences careers that are rising freshmen, rising sophomores, and rising juniors.

Immersion #1 
(9:45 a.m.-2:15 p.m.) June 30, 2022  
Local Career/Education Experience—Halifax Community College, Weldon, NC— The Halifax Community College, offers several areas of study, training programs and other opportunities for high school students and adults, GBDF will be planning a day of activities for RRGSD students.

Faculty from the following pathways will provide a detailed overview of each program:
Nursing
Dental
Automotive
Welding
Industrial Systems
Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)

Immersion #2
UNC-Chapel Hill   (7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) July 14, 2022
Students will visit Gillings School of Global Public Health, the School of Allied Health and the UNC Adams School of Dentistry. Students will hear from undergrad and graduate students about key areas of study in Public Health (environmental, nursing, behavioral health, biostatistics, etc.) as well as information about admission requirements and prerequisites.
These trips are all-expense-paid trips that include the cost of meals and transportation.

Immersion #3
AskBio, Pharmaceutical Research Facility, located in the RTP--Durham/Raleigh 
(7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) July 26, 2022
AskBio, is a leading, clinical-stage gene therapy company dedicated to developing AAV gene therapies for genetic and complex disorders. These professionals will speak with the students about what they do, why their work is important, and their pathway to the position they hold. Students will complete a tour of various departments and will see how drugs are made.
