Hayden Garner

Roanoke Rapids High School Senior, Hayden Garner, signed his official letter of intent to play college football at Furman University today, as part of National Signing Day.  When asked what this opportunity meant to him, Hayden responded, "I'm very glad to be able to play college football and I'm grateful that, because of my scholarship, my parents won't have the burden of paying for college." Hayden was joined by his family and several faculty and staff at the signing. His mom, Fran Garner, stated, "Hayden overcame a few obstacles this year, the biggest one being his foot injury at the beginning of football season. We're very thankful that he has this opportunity." His dad, Matt Garner, added, "It's been Hayden's dream to play college football since he was 7 years old and it is awesome to be able to watch his dream come true."

Garner, in addition to being a great left tackle, is also a standout student at RRHS and has maintained a rigorous course load throughout high school. Coach Chris Lyons added, "I am extremely proud of Hayden and all the work he has put in. His effort shows that hard work and God-given talent can get you to the next level." Congratulations Hayden, on this great achievement. Furman University is lucky to have you!
