Congratulations to our Belmont Bees bringing home the wins at today’s Chowan Math Competition. 5th grade won first place in the team competition. 3rd grade placed second in the team competition  Individual Competition 5th Grade: 5th place Jack Lynch, 4th Place Bryce Manning, and 1st Place Cody Brigman. 4th Grade: 4th Place Annabelle Sinka, 3rd Place Analeigha Hudson and 1st Place Christian Burnett. 3rd Grade: 3rd place Abraham Howell, and 1st Place Christian Burnette. #KidsAreOurCustomers

Senior Abbi Carpenter is making RRHS history. Abbi earned a perfect score on the Microsoft Excel Certification. Perfect score is 1000 which is rare to reach. Congratulations Abbi! #KidsAreOurCustomers

The RRGSD Board of Education honored the RRHS Science Olympiad Team tonight for their recent win at the regional competition. The team will represent the district in the state science and math competition next month. #KidsAreOurCustomers

Update on Kindergarten Registration: All students currently attending Clara Hearne are registered to begin kindergarten in RRGSD this fall. Parents only need to supply an updated 5 year old physical. #KidsAreOurCustomers

Parents/Caregivers: Have you heard your child talk about the "Momo Challenge"? Media posts across the county are connecting the challenge with children exhibiting self-harm. The “player” (potentially your child) is alerted to messages requests self injurious behaviors to be captured and submitted. We are gravely concerned by this and are seeking your help through awareness and support. Please closely monitor social media exposure especially to the Momo Challenge. Pay close attention to any warning signs of self-harm. In the event that you require any support from the school concerning this please notify the administration, school counselor and/or school psychologist at your school. #KidsAreOurCustomers

Parents: You can enjoy some free time this Saturday and support our ESL program at the same time. Roanoke Cinemas will be having a special showing of the movie Peter Rabbit (the live action one) this Saturday, Feb 23 at 10 a.m. Teachers and school staff will be watching the children so you can have a free morning.  Parents and siblings are also welcome to stay and watch too!   The cost for this event is $10 and includes popcorn, drink, and admission to the movie.   Tickets can be purchased in advance at Manning or Belmont or call 519-7400 and ask for Mrs. Wynne for more information. (We will also be showing Jurassic Park in Spanish in the other theater.  Children must have an adult with them to see this movie and it is completely in Spanish).  These movies are being shown as fundraisers for the ESL students of RRGSD. #KidsAreOurCustomers

Roanoke Rapids Early College scholars are busy working on various college classes, such as ENG 111, MUS 110, PSYC 150, HIS 131, CIS 110, SOC 210, ART 111, HIS 132, BIO 111, COM 231, and HEA 110. If you are an 8th grade student who wants the opportunity to take college classes next year by joining the Roanoke Rapids Early College, be sure to submit your application by tomorrow, January 11!
