RRGSD ALERT: Roanoke Rapids Graded School District will close 2 hours early on Wednesday, Sept 12, 2018. This decision is being made to allow our staff time to secure our campuses for the potential inclement weather. Once students are accounted for, staff will be dismissed as well.
There will be NO after school activities including Place to Play.
RRGSD will be closed on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 for students and staff. A decision regarding Friday will be forthcoming. kids

Parents: As you know by now Hurricane Florence is on track to impact the coast of North Carolina and we could also experience heavy rains and high winds as the storm makes its away across the state. As in past hurricanes, we have experienced downed trees, flooding, and the loss of power.
As a school district we will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed regarding possible school closure later this week.

Now is the time to get prepared! Make sure your family has a three day supply of water, food you can prepare without electricity, and other emergency supplies including any medication you and your family may need.
Shelters may also be opening later this week in Roanoke Rapids. We will keep you informed once those open.
Once again - As a school district we will continue to monitor Hurricane Florence and keep you informed regarding possible school closure later this week.

A la mejor ya saben que el huracán Florence esta en camino a impactar el estado de Carolina de Norte. Podemos tener lluvias fuertes y viento fuerte mientras que la tormenta pasa por el estado. En el pasado cuando hay un huracán, arboles se tumban, hay hundaciones, y se va la electricidad.
Como el distrito escolar, vamos a monitorear la situación y mantenerlos informados sobre la posibilidad de cerrar las escuelas mas tarde este semana.
Ahora es tiempo de preparase. Deben de tener agua y comida que pueden cocinar sin electricidad por 3 días. Tambien otros ultiles de emergencia incluyendo cualquier medicamento que usted or su familia necesita.

Our teachers got a lesson today in cultural backgrounds from some of our current and former English as a Second Language students. This year we have more than 140 ESL students from Guatemala, Mexico, Palestine, Yemen, Vietnam,

Parents: We will be participating in an active shooter drill at Manning Elementary in cooperation with local law enforcement and emergency responders on Friday from 9 a.m. until around noon. Please be aware this is just a drill for training purposes. No one will be allowed on campus during the drill. #KidsAreOurCustomers


Thanks to Mrs. Pearson and the Woodmen of the World for the generous donations to our Chaloner Middle School Book Bag Buddies food program. This program is entirely supported by donations and provides snacks to students in need. If you or your organization would like to donate, please contact Chaloner. If you received a letter formally inviting you to summer school, classes will begin on Monday morning at 8 a.m. and end daily at 1 p.m. All Belmont and Manning students invited will be attending at Manning. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. You will need to use the right lane of the queue. The left lane is reserved for staff parking while our permanent parking lot is being paved. #KidsAreOurCustomers
