BBC News is in Roanoke Rapids this week working on a documentary on women in the textile industry. Many of these women graduated from RRHS and went on to support their families working in the local mills. Journalist Jasmine Garsd toured RRHS this morning. The documentary is scheduled to air in December.

The RRHS History Department in conjunction with local Veterans groups is hosting a flag retirement ceremony today on our high school campus. This year’s ceremony will be different and much louder. We will be having a real musket volley as a Revolutionary style 21-gun salute to the flag. (no real ammo will be used.) The ceremony will take place around noon behind the high school softball field.
