Join us in congratulating our 2021 Exceptional Children’s Educator of Excellence for RRGSD, Kristen Keeter. Mrs. Keeter serves as the speech therapist at Manning, RRHS, and ACES, is an essential member of the RRGSD Autism Team, and mentor to new EC teachers. She will represent us at the N.C. Some of the third grade classes at Manning celebrated the end of our Titanic unit this week with a Titanic Day. Students were encouraged to dress like they were passengers on the Titanic, researched real Titanic passengers, solved Titanic themed word problems, and did an ice berg challenge for science! It was a very fun day! #TogetherWeSucceed

Students in Ms. Roye’s second grade class have been learning about what science is, the different kinds of science and scientists, and science safety. They finished off the week with a fun experiment where they tested the buoyancy of four different cookies including Nilla Wafers, Chips Ahoy, Oreos, and Nutter Butters. They all sank except the Nilla Wafer. Making science fun! #science #RRGSDProud

Thanks to Dr. Elena Ashburn, 2021 NC Principal of the Year for visiting our schools today and meeting with our Teacher of the Year Mrs. Baird and administrators to learn more about our district including the new Spanish language program at Manning and 100th Celebration at RRHS. Attention Manning and Belmont Virtual Academy students and families: Device distribution will be Friday August 20th from 10 AM to noon at each elementary campus-- as we did last year, parents will need to sign for their child's device. Virtual Academy "Open House" will take place virtually Friday August 20th from 1 PM to 2:30 PM. Updated Immunization & Physicals Reminder: PreK, Kindergarten, and 7th Grade students are required to have updated immunizations prior to starting school on August 23, 2021. Additionally, rising Seniors are required to have the meningococcal (Menactra) vaccine. September 23, 2021 is the deadline or Sept. 11 for RR Early College to submit your child’s records to their respective school nurse. This state mandate is for students who will be returning to in-person learning and those attending the RRGSD Virtual Academy. Students will not be allowed to return without the proper documentation. Appointments may be made with the Halifax County Health Department or your child's pediatrician. A COVID vaccine is not required for attendance. Medical Physicals are required for PreK, Kindergarten, and those moving from out of state or new to public schools. #KidsAreOurCustomer #BackToSchool

Congratulations to our very own Andrea Ford on being awarded the 2021 Newsom Family Endowment for the Arts Grant. The school will receive nearly $500 to purchase ukuleles to enhance our music program. The ukulele has been shown to help with coordination, reading, and math graphing. Since it only has 4 strings instead of 6, it’s also easier and quickly enjoyable for younger students. We're excited to hear the music our students will make with them this fall! #KidsAreOurCustomers #ManningMusic
