Our RRHS Health Sciences program will be hosting a Be the Match swab event next Thursday, May 12 from 11 - 1 p.m. and 3-6 p.m in the RRHS Gym Lobby. This is open to anyone 18-40. The event is in honor of RRHS 2019 graduate Derrin Mallory who is in need of a bone marrow transplant. Paperwork, a cheek swab and 10 minutes is all it takes to potentially save a life. #BeTheMatch #TogetherWeSucceed

Nineteen students from the RRHS Chapter of SkillsUSA competed this week at the NC SkillsUSA Leadership & Skills Conference in Greensboro with tremendous success. The individual and team awards included three 5th place, three 4th place, three 2nd place, and four 1st place awards. In addition, Meghan Beam, Meagan Beales, and Madison Foster finished 1st place in the Crime Scene Investigation contest, which qualifies them to attend the National SkillsUSA Conference in Atlanta, GA in June. Meghan Beam, Madison Foster, Alex Clark, and Mary Brown were awarded the Outstanding Chapter Member Award. Alex Clark received the Adam J Thompson award, which is awarded to one member in North Carolina for going above and beyond to promote SkillsUSA through community service throughout their time in SkillsUSA. This past week, at the NC SkillsUSA State Leadership & Skills Conference, RRHS SkillsUSA Chapter member Emily Campbell-Tyler ran for a position on the NC SkillsUSA Officer Team. An election was held where delegates from schools across North Carolina voted for the candidates. Emily won her election, and will be a member of next year's state officer team for SkillsUSA! Emily will be going through rigorous leadership training throughout the summer to prepare her for her new position. Students from RRHS SkillsUSA chapter are in Greensboro where they will compete against students from high schools across North Carolina on Thursday. Our students will compete in career readiness and leadership skills, including Extemporaneous Speech, Customer Service, EMT, Crime Scene Investigation, CERT, first aid/CPR, Poster, Cabinet Making, and Debate Team.
