It's National School Counseling Week! Our RRGSD counselors support our students in and out of the classroom to reach their personal and academic goals.
Be sure to reach out to your school counselors this week and thank them for all they do. #TogetherWeSucceed #NSCW22

We've made a difference in the lives of our students well over 100 times and they are certainly 100 days smarter. Happy 100th Day of School! #100daysofschool #100dayssmarter #TogetherWeSucceed

Our RRHS JROTC presented colors today for the 45th stamp dedication in the Black Heritage Stamp series at HCC. This week our Belmont kindergartners have been learning about cows and how important they are to us. Students got to play the part of farmers and even learned how to milk them. Thanks Ms. Lambert for making learning fun for our Belmont Bees. #TogetherWeSucceed #BelmontBees

What a great story of learning! Back in October, our Manning 2nd graders read Pumpkin Jack, a story about a little boy named Tim who carved a pumpkin (Jack) for Halloween and later threw it out in a field where it began to rot. Once Tim thought Jack was gone forever, he kicked some dirt over the remains and forgot about it. Then when spring arrived, Tim found a sprout where Jack once was and began taking care of it. By fall he had a new pumpkin.
Students in Mrs. Duncan's class decided to see if they could successfully recreate the events in the story. They carved their own Pumpkin Jack and let him rot in a sealed container. Once the pumpkin was unrecognizable, they covered it with more soil , closed it, and sealed it back. Students to got see the first pumpkin sprout this week. Thanks Mrs. Duncan for making learning truly come to LIFE for our students. #TogetherWeSucceed #ManningMustangs

Join us in congratulating RRHS educator Susan Temple on receiving her National Board Certification. National Board Certification is the most respected professional certification available in education. RRGSD is proud to have 25% of our teachers Board Certified with more than 80 of them with master's degrees or higher. #NationalBoard #TogetherWeSucceed #JacketProud

We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of HCC President Dr. Michael Elam. Dr. Elam was always supportive of our district. He was actively involved in our Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Advisory Council, Business Advisory Council, worked with us to increase community college offerings for RRHS students, and was instrumental in helping us open Roanoke Rapids Early College High School. On behalf of our RRGSD family, including our Board of Trustees, I want to send my deepest condolences today to his family and the entire HCC family. Dr. Elam will be missed. - Julie Thompson, Interim Superintendent
Every day is a learning day! Our scholars at Clara Hearne had fun today playing in REAL snow. After reading the book, The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats, students enjoyed some snowy fun recreating what they learned from the book. #TogetherWeSucceed #PreKLearning

RRGSD Alert: RRGSD will operate on a 2 hour delay for students and staff Monday, January 24, 2022. #TogetherWeSucceed

The RRGSD family is mourning the death of one of our former board members today. Dr. Fred Eugene Wier served 12 years on the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District Board of Trustees starting in 1997 through 2009. Dr. Wier, being an avid learner himself, exhibited extraordinary passion during his public service to the school district and was forthright regarding his stand on issues while always looking out for the best interest of the students, staff, parents, and our community. His funeral will be held on January 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fletcher Seventh Day Adventist located at 1141 Howard Gap Road in Hendersonville, NC. His family requests memorial donations be made to Vidant North Development Council in memory of Dr. Fred Wier, Department of Surgery. Plans are underway to celebrate the life of Dr. Wier at a later date in Roanoke Rapids. #RRGSDCommunity

A fun day of learning today at Belmont. What better way to remember the relationship with Q and U than a Q & U wedding? Both letters promised to work together in words as QU to make words. Pretty much letters Q and U will always be together in words that start with a Q. After the wedding, we had a ceremony with cake and the "letters" received gifts that started with QU ( a quilt, quarters, and a pic of a queen). #TogetherWeSucceed #Letterland #BelmontBees

Today, we honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. #MLKDay #TogetherWeSucceed
